FAQs
What is tallow?
Tallow is a traditional, nutrient-rich fat rendered from beef suet. It’s been used for generations in skincare because of its compatibility with the skin and its simple, whole-origin nature.
What does tallow smell like?
Pure tallow has a mild, natural scent. Some describe it as slightly earthy or buttery, while others smell a stronger beefy scent.
In my products, the scent depends on the specific formula—some are unscented, while others may carry subtle notes from infused botanicals or essential oils. Because tallow is a natural ingredient, scent can shift slightly from batch to batch. Factors like the season, the animal’s diet, and the rendering process all play a role. This is completely normal and part of working with real, unprocessed ingredients.
Do you deodorise your tallow?
No — I don’t deodorise the tallow. I keep it as close to its natural state as possible, without heavy processing or chemical alteration. This means it retains its natural scent, colour, and character — just as it should.
What is the texture like?
Tallow-based products can vary depending on the formulation:
Whipped tallow: light, airy, and fluffy
Balms: firmer and more structured
Warm conditions: softer, more melt-like
Cool conditions: firmer and more solid
It naturally softens on contact with skin.
Graininess can sometimes occur due to temperature changes causing the natural fats to cool unevenly. It doesn’t affect the quality or performance.
Gently warming the product between your fingers will smooth it out.
How should I store my products?
Keep them in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
Avoid leaving them in hot environments (like cars), as tallow can melt.
What happens if my product melts?
If your product melts, simply place it in a cooler spot or the fridge to firm back up. The texture may change slightly (less whipped), but it will still work just as well.
How long do tallow products last?
When stored properly, tallow products typically have a long shelf life. Always use clean, dry hands when applying to keep them fresh for as long as possible
Shipping
How does shipping work?
I offer Australia-wide shipping from Tasmania via Australia Post, with a flat rate of $15.25 standard shipping or $19.25 express shipping. Orders are processed within 1–3 business days, with delivery typically taking 2–5 business days within Tasmania, 3–7 business days to mainland Australia, and up to 10 business days for remote areas (express is faster). Delivery timeframes are estimates and may vary during peak periods. Due to the natural nature of tallow, products may soften or melt in transit—this does not affect quality; simply place in a cool spot or fridge to firm back up.
Returns & Refunds
I accept returns within 7 days of your order being delivered. If more than 7 days have passed since your order arrived, I’m unable to offer a refund or exchange.
I’m unable to offer a refund or exchange for change-of-mind purchases.
To be eligible for a return, items must be unused, in their original condition, and returned in the original packaging.
Once your return has been received and assessed, you will be notified by email. I’ll let you know whether your refund has been approved or declined. If approved, your refund will be processed back to your original payment method within a few business days.
Please note that return shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer and are not refundable. If a refund is issued, any return shipping costs may be deducted from the total.
Delivery times for exchanged items can vary depending on your location.
